The Mirchi Music Awards 2010 hosted jointly by Uninor and Radio Mirchi was a grand event that happened at the Chennai Convention Centre recently. The musicians, singers and lyricists of the South Indian music industry were honored during this event.
Speaking at this event, Gangai Amaren, Jury Chairman Tamil, Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010 said, “To begin with – these awards have filled in the gap that existed in the Indian music Industry. It was surprising that a country where music lies in each and every aspect of life and which is a very big part of our Kollywood was not being recognised to its fullest.”
Usha Uthup had the audiences sway to her mesmerizing voice and dance, which is her incomparable style. The other singers who performed on stage and had the audiences enthralled included Vijay Yesudas, Swetha Mohan, Haricharan, and Benny Dayal. It was truly a great music awards function that will remain etched out in our memories.

Anushka Now Walks Away From Kamal Haasan movie Viswaroopam

The latest news is that actress Anushka has refused to act in the next film of Kamal that is going to be titles as “Viswaroopam”. This role was first offered to Sonakshi Sinha, who apparently declined the offer and now Anushka has repeated the same. She has done this in a very polite way. She has declined from this offer as her dates are clashing with the dates of the other films, one being “Damarukam” she has signed where she would be acting with Nagarjuna in the film. The shooting for that film is all set to begin. Looks like things are not going in favor of Kamalahaasan this time. This film Viswaroopam has too many issues. It was Selvaraghavan who quit initially from directing this movie as there were many difference of opinion between him and Kamal. Kamal Haasan will now be directing this film. Due to all these problems the shooting of the film was delayed.The shooting of this film commenced some time back and some portions where  Kamal is acting has been shot. The shoot happened in Chennai.  Amy Jackson who acted in the film Madrasapattinam is also playing an important role in this film. The heroine for this film is yet to be finalized. Except the heroine for this film all other things fall in place at the momentSonakshi Sinha was signed for this film initially but she refused as the shoot was getting delayed. The exact reason why actress anushka has not agreed to act in this film is not known. Viswaroobam team was further irritated with Anushka because she has given a reason that her dates with another Tamil film is clashing with this. That film is supposedly going to be directed by Selva raghavan who had difference of opinion with Kamal and walked away from this film. We are hearing that the team is now approaching actress Sameera Reddy for her call sheet. It is also difficult to forget that Anushka was in news for pairing with Kamal Haasan in the film Viswaroobam some time back but the latest news has shocked the team of ‘Viswaroobam’ and all the Tamil film fans.

Dabangg, one of the biggest hits ever for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, is being made in Telugu asGabbar Singhwith Power Star Pawan Kalyan in the lead. Dabangg's sizzling item number 'Munni Badnaam Hui', featuring Malaika Arora, rocked the entire nation and also played a key role in the success of the film.
Gabbar Singh director Harish Shankar has plans to have a similar item number and as per sources, he has approached Anushka for the song. Anushka is said to have accepted for a huge fee which the producer accepted.
It is worth mentioning that Anushka did a special song opposite Mega Star Chiranjeevi inStalin. Gabbar Singh has Shruthi Haasan as the heroine. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Jayanan Vincent, art by Brahma and editing by Gowtham Raju.

Sun Pictures to release Vedi?

Kollywood's prominent production house Sun Pictures has bagged the release rights of Vishal-Sameera Reddy starrer Vedi. The film is likely to grace theatres on September 29, 2011. According to sources, director Prabhu Deva is taking special care to make the songs appear unique on screen. The sizzling chemistry between Vishal and Sameera Reddy is one of the major highlights of Vedi.
The film is produced under Vishal’s home banner GK Film Corporation. The film is a remake of the Telugu super hit Sowryam with Gopichand and Anushka in the lead roles. Music composed by Vijay Anthony was launched in Chennai recently. According to sources, Vedi is about a Tamil family staying in Kolkata. It is also about the hero, who is in search of somebody.

Arya-Anushka in Selvaraghavan's Irandaam Ullagam?

That is the latest buzz in Kollywood! After completingMayakkam Enna with Dhanush and Richa in the lead roles, Selvaraghavan is likely to start working on a new project with Arya and Anushka Shetty. There are reports this film is titled Irandaam Ullagam.
In Mayakkam Enna, Dhanush will play the role of a doctor for the first time. UTV Motion Pictures has acquired the release rights of this film produced by Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja; Ramji (of Raam fame) handles the camera. Kola Bhaskar is the editor and G.V. Prakash is the music director.

SRK's Ra.One to release in Tamil, Telugu

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's much awaited big budget sci-fi film Ra.One will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. "The film will be released in Tamil and Telugu as well. It will release simultaneously when the Hindi version of the film will release. The Tamil and Telugu versions are already ready. The dubbing is done," SRK was quoted saying.
Ra.One is one of the most awaited films in Bollywood. The film, which will grace theatres for Diwali, will be available in both 3D and 2D formats. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film also stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in pivotal characters.

Mallika Sherawat - Simbu's Munni.

The hunt for Simbu's hot item girl in his forthcoming 'Osthi' has finally come to an end as Mallika Sherawat will be featured in this track along with Simbu in this Diwali release.

Who will play Munni in the Tamil version was the most talked about aspect of the film and various names where suggested and rumoured for this song. It made headlines in new media, tabloids and TV channels and people right from Nayanthara to Shriya Sen were rumoured to play Tamil cinema's Munni.It is said that this B'town's sex-siren came with a fancy price tag that the team was willing to pay. Superstar's fans irked?

There have been a couple of incidents closely connected with Bollywood, which has not been received well by superstar's family as well as fans, reports suggest. There had been some stories making their way across Bollywood that Salman Khan is planning to do a biopic on Superstar Rajinikanth. This project, if it materializes, would be directed by Atul Agnihotri.
 
Now, according to reports, what has irked superstar's family is that none from Bollywood have contacted Superstar or his family regarding this biopic on the Superstar. Even if Sallu or director Atul Agnihotri met the superstar and his family, it is not sure if the actor will give a green signal for this biopic.
 
If there is a green signal from the superstar or his kin to go ahead with the film, then the biopic will portray the Superstar's life during his days as a conductor and progress to the time he began his film career and his rise to superstardom.
 
While this is on one side, Superstar's fans have been irked about a Bollywood film which is in the making.
 
Sources reveal that 'The Dirty Picture' which is a biopic on Silk Smitha, shows Naseerudhin Shah's character in the film lusting after Silk Smitha, played by Vidya Balan. Many fans of the superstar have been angered by a teaser which was out recently, when rumour mills began to spin suggesting that Naseerudin Shah portrays Rajinikanth;s character in the biopic!
 
But the makers of the film have dismissed their fury as irrelevant suggesting that Naseerudin Shah plays a middle-aged man in the film where as the Superstar was much younger when he shared screen space with 'Silk.' This will hopefully pacify Superstar's fans...

Rajinikanth's Sultan- The Warrior becomes Dheera

Rajinikanth's much-delayed Sultan – The Warrior has been rechristened again. The title of the movie, which was changed to Hara in October 2010, has reportedly finalized as Dheera.

Reports claim that Soundarya Rajinikanth has been thinking of a title change for a while and has short-listed three names. Now, after consulting the superstar and the movie bosses, she has decided to go with Dheera, as it fits the character played by Rajini. Indeed, it is one of the characters donned by the superstar in the upcoming multilingual film.

Dheera is an animation cum live action movie, which is directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. It also features Prakash Raj, Vijayalakshmi, Rahul Dev and others in the cast. The movie has Oscar Award winner AR Rahman's music.

However, it is not sure whether Dheera will see the day's light before Rajinikanth's other project Rana. The superstar will be starting the project in September 2011.

Rajinikanth's school to be renovated

like Rajinikanth, his fans always stood for a cause. They voluntarily lend helping hands for the needy. Continuing this, they have decided to renovate a school, where the superstar did primary studies. 

Last week, the initiative for renovation was held in the Government Model Primary School, which is located at Gavi Puram in Bengaluru. Rajinikanth's friend Raj Bahadur, who was the co-worker of the actor during his days as a conductor, confirmed the news and said that the school was running in dilapidated conditions. Hence, they have come forward to reconstruct the building.

He also says that the government sanctioned Rs. 80 lakhs for restructuring the building but they realised that they require more money to complete the work. So, they took the responsibility of finishing the work on their shoulders in the name of Rajini.

Raj Bahadur further adds that a popular jewellery shop owner named Sharavana is adopting 42 students and has decided to bear the expenses till they finish their complete SSLC. However, he concludes that Rajinikanth does not know about these developments and they have also not informed him, as they want him to recovery from his ill health. Nonetheless, the actor will be the guest, when they organize a function to relaunch the school.

Rajinikanth regains momentum, ready for Rana

Rajinikanth seems to have regained his lost momentum. The actor, who has been recouping from kidney transplant, is fit and ready to start his delayed project Rana.

Reports say that Rajinikanth is gearing up to start his much-hyped Rana. The superstar will join the shoots on October 3. However, the actor has to report to the doctors on regular basis and keeping his health status in mind, he has been advised not to work for long hours. It is also said that the actor will also not perform the action sequences on his own.

The Endhiran star has reportedly suggested director KS Ravikumar to slightly change the script. Reports further claim that it is a 45-day-schedule and Deepika Padukone will also join the unit in the second week of October.

Mallika Sherawat turns item gal again for Simbu's Osthi

Malaika Arora Khan seems to have a new competitor, when it comes to item songs, in the form of Mallika Sherawat. The former, who has been setting the trend for special numbers, will be imitated by the latter! Well, the Murder actress will shake her legs for an item song, which was famous, made by the 'Chhaiya chhaiya...' gal.

Mallika Sherawat is all set to groove for the Tamilversion of 'Munni badnaam hui...' in upcoming Tamil film Osthi, which is a remake of Dabangg. The makers of the upcoming movie has approached her for the item number and has offered a hefty amount for the song. It is said that the actress should be in Chennai for a 5-day-shoot. However, her recent special numbers like 'Razia...' and 'Shallu...' have been well-received by the B-town audience.

It may be recalled that the actresses like VidyaBalan, Katrina Kaif, Nayantara, Bipasha Basu and many other names were approached for the item number in Osthi. But they did not take the offers citing various reasons, claims a source. However, the official announcement on this is yet to be made. Meanwhile, the shooting of the movie is in brisk progress and the makers of the film are planning to release the film during Diwali.

Mankatha earns Rs 83 lakhs at UK Box Office

The successful run of Ajith Kumar's 50th filmMankatha has also continued in abroad. The movie, which was released on August 31, has earned Rs 83 lakhs (£110,383) in its first week, at the UK Box Office.

Mankatha is at 15th place at the UK Box Office. English movie The Inbetweeners Movie, which has raked in £3,679,555 in three weeks, is leading the list. The only other Indian movie to feature in the list is Bollywood film Bodyguard, which has collected Rs 6,26,86,743.

The weekend gross for Mankatha includes £42,252 from 16 previews. Whereas, the weekend collection for Bodyguard includes £407,839 from 51 previews. Meanwhile, the Tamil film has crossed Rs 30 crore mark in a week.

However, Mankatha, which stars Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Arjun Sarja in the leads, is heading for its sequel. Director Venkat Prabhu is ready with the script and has in talks with the actors.

Vijay-Angela Johnson's hush-hush photoshoot

It is confirmed. Angela Johnson is donning the grease paint for the first time in AR Murugadoss directorial film. The Kingfisher model is pairing up with Vijay in the upcoming Tamil film.

The photoshoot of the movie was recently held in a film studio in Chennai. Vijay and Angela Johnson took part in the initial photography, which was shot under the watchful eyes of cinematographer Santhosh Sivan.

The makers of the film were happy with the hush-hush photoshoot. Angela Johnson and Vijay looked excellent and they hope that their chemistry work big time in the Tamil film industry. 

Vijay is currently busy with Nanban and gearing up for the release of Velayudham. On the other end, AR Murugadoss is busy with 7 Aum Arivu post-production work. After the completion of their pending projects, they will start the film.

Shriya says that she is not interested in birthday parties

Actress Shriya celebrated her birthday yesterday. Actors and actresses have the habit of celebrating their birthday with the family members and friends in a five star hotel or in the farm houses. At times liquor are also served in these parties.It was expected that Shriya will also celebrate her birthday bash in this style. But Shriya did not do this. Shriya while speaking about this said, "I don’t like to celebrate my birthday by hosting parties. I celebrated by birthday in my house along with my parents. I met few of my friends. I participated in the shooting. I was quite happy. I don’t want to celebrate my birthday in a extravaganza way."

A 15 year old boy killed himself and his parents claim its all after watching Kanchana!A 15 year old boy was allowed to got to cinema theater on his own to watch the movie Kanchana and then when to bought a pirated CD of the movie and watched it again and again - his parents kept quite - according to the satement of the boy's parents thenselfs!

Now, after the boy committed suicide, the parents claim that its all because of the movie, the boy went into hysteria and killed self!

It is not yet clear why the police is hesitating to arrest the boy's irresponsible parents? and to punish them!

Nikitha speaks to HosurOnline

After Nikitha was banned in Karnataka film industry, she spoke to HosurOnline, here is the exclusive.."If some one has a family dispute, why should I be banned from acting" asked Nikitha at the very first sight before even starting the discussion.

Nikitha was found nervous, upset and at the same time felt ashamed of being cornered, blamed and banned from acting as kannada movie actor Darshan was arrested due to his domestic family issue.

Though Vijayalakshmi, wife of Darshan, complained to the police that Darshan beaten her causing injuries, she was quick to track back her complaint and now saying the domestic problem came out because of Nikitha's illicit relationship with her husband Darshan.

kannada film industry was quick to reponse to the complaint and the producer's association banned Nikitha from acting in its language films.

HosurOnline:  What was the issue that lead to a ban?

Nikitha:  I was un-warrentedly pulled in - in a dispute which is purely between Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi

HosurOnline: Do you have any relationship with Darshan?

Nikitha:  I am in kannada film industry for more than 6 years and I have never been gossiped associated with any men in the industry.  Fans here in karnataka love me so much and just because of the envy, they are blamming me now.

HosurOnline:  Then why is that Vijalakshmi blame you?

Nikitha:  I am wondering why she is blamming me now.  Even few days before she called me up and appreciated that I am acting very well.  I am feeling ashamed of being banned for some - one else family dispute and that too my morale is questioned now!

Robbery attack, murder in actress’s house

A group of robbers attacked actress Vichithra’s farm house in which her father Williams and mother Vasanthi were residing. The farm house is in Sunguvarchanthiram near Chennai and the robbery attack happened late last night but was found out only this morning.
Williams lost his life in an effort to thwart the robbers and Vasanthi was severely injured. She has been rushed to the hospital for treatment and the police investigations have already begun.
Vichithra was a popular glam doll during her heydays and has acted in films like Thalai Vaasal, Enga Mudhalali and Periya Kudumbam.

Karthi dubs for another Telugu release

Karthi has been very clever and always makes the right moves where his career is concerned. Given his huge fan following in Andhra Pradesh, the actor has decided to release Paruthiveeran, his debut film in Tamil with Ameer in Telugu. He just completed the dubbing work at AVM Studios. The film will be released soon in AP.

Shahrukh Khan's 'Ra.One' to see a Tamil - Telugu dub!

Shahrukh Khan's forthcoming, 'Ra.One' is much-expected by his fans throughout the globe. The latest is that, the biggie will see a release simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu as well! The film is made with a whooping budget of Rs 170 crores and the makers are planning to go pan India and then global!
 
Yesterday, at the music launch SRK revealed that the Tamil and Telugu version will be released simultaneously with the Hindi version and there are plans to release it in other languages worldwide also in order to make 'Ra.One' a global phenomenon.
 
Most the dubbing works for the Tamil and Telugu version is done and the rest of the cast are expected to finish their parts shortly. Well it's a smart move by SRK who in his twenty years of active dominance in Bollywood has understood the business.
 
King Khan in the film plays Shekhar Subramanium, a Tamil Brahmin. This connect is expected to work good magic down south. He plays a superhero, whilst Kareena Kapoor plays his love interest. The teasers that have released have become smashing hits up north.
 
As Shahrukh puts it, "We are the largest movie producing nation and we should have our Superheroes, why should all superheroes come from America?"  
 
So what will the film be named in Tamil and Telugu and when will the songs see an audio release in here, we'll have to wait to know...

Another recent trend that Muphozudhum Un Karpanaigal will be capitalizing on is the one where a single track is released to reel in the audience prior to the actual audio launch. This strategy was used in films like Mankatha and Vaanam and was a great success. The makers have decided to release one track and will have the actual audio launch later.

Gautham to produce film for an old friend

Gautham Vasudev Menon's Photon Kathas will be producing a film to be directed by Nagaraj. The two go back a long way as Nagaraj wrote the dialogue in Gautham's first film, Minnale. He also wrote the romantic scenes in Kaakha Kaakha.
The two men are good friends and have always believed in each other. Nagaraj has formerly directed a film starring Murali and Suvalakshmi called Dhinandhorum. The cast and crew for this film is yet to be finalized.

Shah Rukh Khan film in Tamil

Shah Rukh Khan's ambitious superhero film, Ra One will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Apparently dubbing work has been completed and these South Indian versions will be released on the same day as the Bollywood version. SRK also has plans to release the films in foreign languages like German and Eros is considering it.
Kareena Kapoor is the heroine. Arjun Rampal who won the National award for Rock On has an important role. Anubhav Sinha is the director. The film may be viewed in 2D or 3D format.

Vishnuvardhan's Power with Power Star

Vishnuvardhan after delivering super hit Billa in Tamil is currently busy with his Telugu film with Power star, Pawan Kalyan. The film is to be called Power. Sarah Jane Diaz seen in Theeradha Vilaiyatu Pillai is making her debut in Telugu with this film. Anjana Lavania is the other heroine and she is also a newcomer.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is doing the music. Jackie Shroff who made an impact with Aaranya Kaandam also has a pivotal role in this film. PS Vinod is the cinematographer and Sanghamitra Arts are producing this film.

Nayan and Amala Paul say things about each other

Nayanthara recently saw some pics of Amala Paul in JFW magazine and she was impressed. She immediately conveyed her appreciation to the younger actress and said that her transformation in such a short time is simply amazing as she is looking gorgeous. Amala Paul is over the moon and she thanked Nayan profusely for the praise and encouragement.
Amala Paul says that Nayan is very sweet and is one of her role models as she has achieved so much in her career. The two Kerala beauties certainly seem to have a mutual admiration society.

Mayakkam Enna postponed?

The audio launch of Mayakkam Enna was supposed to happen on September 15th but it has been postponed to September 19th. The film has six tracks by GV Prakash. Dhanush and Selvaraghavan have both lent their voices for a couple of tracks and the brothers are very excited about it.
The film is a love story that mirrors the age we live in and is very contemporary in its outlook. It will focus on this generation's lack of patience and need for instant gratification. Richa is the heroine. Sunder Ramu a talented photographer, dancer, and theatre artiste is also making his debut with this film.
Mayakkam Enna will be released on September 30th in all likelihood as the quarterly holidays would have begun and it will also be the Vijayadasami weekend

Shriya Saran to appear in the buff?

Shriya Saran has always been one of the most glamourous heroines in the South. But she was taken aback when noted Bengali filmmaker, Rituparno Ghosh asked her to appear in the nude for a scene in his film. Apparently, her character is a prostitute and the scene was important to the script.
The actress reportedly has mixed feelings because the role is a superb one and will really bring out her acting prowess. Moreover, Rituparno Ghosh did wonders for Aishwarya Rai's career and could do the same  for her. But she does have reservations about the nude scene though she knows that Ghosh is a reputed director and will shoot the scene in an aesthetic manner without any sleazy elements. What will she decide?

GV Prakash on a career high

Tamil cinema's young talent, GV Prakash is on a career high with various biggies and interesting projects in the pipeline.
 
Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that GV Prakash will be composing the tunes for Selvaraghavan's next, 'Irandam Ulagam' as well! The film will feature Arya and Anushka in the lead roles.
 
He has also signed two films with UTV Motion Pictures, one of the two films will be directed by AL Vijay with Chiyaan Vikram playing lead. The other being 'Mareesan', a period fantasy entertainer featuring Dhanush under Chimbudevan's direction.
 
He has also signed a film with Cloud Nine Movies, which will be directed by Vetrimaran. The duo's earlier venture, 'Aadukalam' needs no introduction as it was a smashing hit that won many honours.
 
He also has a Telugu movie in the pipeline, 'Endukante Premanta'. GV Prakash is doing two Bollywood biggies, 'Joker' and 'Gangs of Wassepur'. While Joker is a 3D fantasy thriller featuring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, the other features Manoj Bajpai and Reemma Sen.
 
GV Prakash is truly on a career high with interesting projects in various languages!  His 'Mayakkam Enna' will see an audio release on September 19, the music of which is much-expected by fans.

elvaraghavan's forthcoming, 'Mayakkam Enna' has seen a change in its audio release from September 15 to September 19! The audio will be launched in a star-studded affair on the 19th of this month.
 
Confirming this, the director expressed, "Yes, the audio will release on September 19, we are working hard on the release. Venkat Prabhu clarifies on Ajith - Simbu starrer

Rumour mills had it that the 'Mankatha' director will pair again with thala Ajith and come up with a multi-starrer featuring him and Silambarasan! It was also expressed that a big banner will be producing this film featuring the duo. It may be mentioned in here that Simbu is a die-hard Ajith fan.
