Aadhi completes Aravaan shoot

Aadhi has recently completed the shoot of Vasanthabalan's much awaited epic filmAravaan. According to sources, the film is almost wrapped up and the dubbing works are in full swing.

Aravaan will reportedly grace theatres during Deepavali 2011. The film has Aadhi, Pasupathy, Archana Kavi and Dhansika in the lead roles. Aravaan, set in the mid 18th century, is the story of an ordinary man with an extraordinary talent. Aravaan is based on one of the many stories that were part of 'Kaavalkottam' (a collection of novels penned by Su. Venkatesan).
Aravaans are security guards named after Aravaan, the son of Arjuna, who sacrificed himself before Goddess Kali for the victory of the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war in Mahabharata. The story revolves around one such Aravaan.

Mayakkam Enna and Irandaam Ulagam are different movies: Selvaraghavan

There have been a lot of reports in the media that the script of Selvaraghavan's upcoming movie Mayakkam Enna with Dhanush is the same as that ofIrandaam Ulagam, and that just the cast and name have been changed. However, Selvaraghavan has issued a statement denying this! In the statement, he has clearly stated that Mayakkam Enna and Irandaam Ulagam are totally different movies; Mayakkam Enna, starring Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay, is a movie on the youth of the next generation and their problems. Selva also revealed thatIrandaam Ulagam, starring Arya and Anushka, will go on floors this December.
Asked if Dhanush was chosen as the hero just for convenience, he stated that the script demanded somebody like Dhanush, who fit the character perfectly. When asked what is new in the story, Selva said that the story being that of the next generation is in itself something new! He further went on to say that Mayakkam Enna is not a love story, but a story which also has love in it, and that he wouldn't want to classify the audience as Class A, B, or C, as the movie was for everybody.
The shooting for most of the movie has been completed around locations in Kerala, Chennai, Coimbatore and a few other places in Tamil Nadu. The most interesting aspect of Mayakkam Enna is that Selvaraghavan has showcased a new facet of himself in this movie. Of the four songs in the movie, Selva has written two and Dhanush has written the other two. Selva revealed that writing lyrics was a new and exhilarating experience for him. The music for the movie has been scored by G.V. Prakash Kumar, who worked with Selva in Aayirathil Oruvan.

7 Aum Arivu: Ten crores intro scene for Suriya

The latest buzz is that the producers have spent nearly ten crores for the introduction scene of Suriya in 7 Aum Arivu. Made with a whopping budget of Rs. 84 crores, this is the highest budget film in Suriya's career till date.7 Aum Arivu, which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, is likely to grace theatres on October 28, 2011 (Diwali weekend). The director is currently busy with the post production works and the music launch will take place in Chennai on September 22, 2011. The story is said to revolve around a time machine which is brought to India by a scientist. 7 Aum Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a triple role: a circus artist, a Buddhist monk and a scientist. Vietnamese stunt actor Johnny Tri Nguyen will play the baddie.
The technical team includes Harris Jayaraj (music), Ravi K. Chandran (cinematography) and Anthony Gonsalves (editing).

Coming soon: Harris: On The Edge

After almost three years, music director Harris Jayaraj is all set to go live soon. The musician will present a series of concerts as part of his musical tour, titled Harris: On The Edge. The concert will be directed by MadarasapattinamVijay; prominent singers Karthik, Haricharan, Chinmayi, Tippu, Harini and Naresh Iyer will be a part of this project. The team will be performing about 25 songs with the original singers and for the first time Harris will sing on stage. The musical tour will have its first two concerts in Chennai (October 2) and Coimbatore (October 16); the third concert in Hyderabad (October 22) will feature Harris' Telugu and Hindi hits.

The shooting of Raana to commence in the month of November

The shooting of the Raana is to commence during the month of November. Co-producer Dr Murali Manohar said that Rajnikanth is getting ready for the shooting. Raana is a film which has Rajni in triple roles. The shooting of this film commenced on 29th April but the shooting could not be continued because of Rajni’s sudden illness.For one month he was admitted at Isabella hospital and Porur Ramachandra Hospital. Then he was taken to Singapore for modern hi- tech treatment. He was there for 45 days and after fully recuperating he returned to Chennai.

Arya says that he will get married once if he gets a girl

Arya is now participating in the shooting of Vettai in Kumbakonam. There was news that Arya has got a suitable bride and his marriage will be taking soon. When asked him about this, he said, "There is lots of news these days that I have got a suitable bride for me.

Earlier there were rumors linking me with the heroines with whom I act. Now that has stopped. I don’t have the intention of marrying now. Otherwise I would have asked my parents to find me a suitable bride. If at all I get a suitable bride, I will marry.

Aascar Ravichandran has produced the film Velayudham at a cost of Rs 48 Crores. This film which has Vijay in the lead role has been directed by Jayam Raja. This film which is to be released on Deepavali has Genelia and Hansika in the female lead rolesThe shooting of this film took place for 150 days. Whe asked the director whether there were any ego problems between the two heroines, he said, "It is true that there was ego between Genelia and Hansika that who was the greatest. But both of them will not show it out. Both of them will smile when they meet face to face.
There will be stiff antagonism in their minds but outwardly they will move as if though they were close friends. But there were no problems because of them. Both of them have been given equivalent roles. Because of this the shooting took place peacefully. We shot the climax sequence in Cochin for 15 days. We required 1 Lakh people to participate in this. We were able to collect 50,000 people and the balances 50,000 were Vijay fans. This film will be the best for Vijay."

It's Pooja Hedge for Jiiva

Finally the hunt for Jiiva's lady love in his superhero flick, 'Mugamoodi' has come to an end as Pooja Hedge has been roped in for this role. Pooja Hedge has won many beauty pageant titles including Miss Universe India, Miss India South Glamorous Hair and Miss India Talented.

The film revolves around Pooja Hedge's character as Jiiva falls for her and it's around this love story and his love for her that the story revolves. It also involves the villain Narain trying to get to the superhero Jiiva through her.

The movie is directed by Mysskin and is produced by UTV Motion Pictures. The shooting for the film will commence this November and the film will be a 2012 summer treat.

Karthi dubs in Telugu for Palanti Veerudu

Enthralled by the grand reception toYuganiki Okkadu, the dubbed version of leading Kollywood actor Karthi's Selvaraghavan directedAayirathil Oruvan, which collected Rs. 2 crores within first 4 days of its release in about 93 centres in Andhra Pradesh, Karthi's relative and popular film personality Gnanavel Raja has decided to dub Karthi's debut filmParuthiveeran (2007) in Telugu as Palanti Veerudu.
Incidentally, this movie, directed by Ameer, also won Priyamani the National award (Best Actress). Recently Karthi has finished dubbing (in Telugu) for the film in Chennai.Paruthiveeran was one of the biggest blockbusters in 2007, grossing around $14 million at the box office in its one year plus run in theatres.

Vijay off to a hot spot

Vijay and the Velayudham team are off to the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar to shoot the final song. The picture perfect spot was decided as the ideal location for this peppy number. The song has been cheekily titled as Molachu Moonu Ilai Vidala. Hansika and Genelia will be featured in this track.
It is said that Vijay Antony's music is going to be the USP in this film. Director Jayam Raja is very excited about his film and assures us that it is going to rock.

Ajith wants Rajini to bash him up!

Ajith has received a lot of praise for his negative role in Mankatha. The actor, however, has just taken it all in his stride and is already hard at work on his next project Billa 2. In a recent interview, Ajith revealed that he is a huge fan of Rajini and it is his ambition to play the villain in a Rajini film and get bashed up by him.
Ajith said that he is like Ekalavya and Rajini is the Dronacharya. Sharing screen space with Rajini will be a dream come true  for him. Tamil film fans will also love to see the two of them duel it out on the big screen.

New heroine for Ajith?

Following the smashing success of Mankatha, all eyes are on Ajith. The actor is currently shooting for Billa 2 in Goa. But since Mankatha is a tough act to follow, the makers have decided to revamp the script and major chunks of it is being rewritten. The original idea was to have Huma Quereshi and Bruna Abdullah as the female leads but thanks to the changes made, the makers have decided that Huma is not suitable for the part.
Word is that Huma will leave the project and she will be replaced by another heroine. The search is on for Ajith's next leading lady.

Pandiraj's next is 'Marina' - Breaking News

Director Pandiraj's films are as simple as the man himself, and go a long way into the audience minds that it remains there long after the credits of the film have rolled. While his 'Pasanga' is still fetching accolades from around the globe, the director is almost through with his next project which has been aptly titled 'Marina.'

The film stars Siva Karthikeyan, who is a popular TV host debuting as hero with this film, and Oviya as the lead lady. Like 'Pasanga,' this film too deals with children, but this time it will be about children who are not educated. The film will be a mirror which will showcase the life of children at the marina beach, who sell snacks and goodies at beach side stalls and are deprived from luxuries or do we say basic needs.

Jaya Prakash, who is almost like a lucky mascot to director Pandiraj, will be portraying an important role in this film too which will also see 'Pasanga' Pakoda. Vijay who has so long been a still photographer, and who has done photography for films including 'Kaadhal,' 'Pasanga' and Vamsam has turned cameraman with 'Marina.'

Music for this film is by Krish who will also be debuting as music director with 'Marina.' Krish is a student of the famous Lalgudi Jayaraman. He has done his music course from Trinity College of Music, London. Most of 'Marina' has been shot, and this film will disclose the happenings around Marina in typical Pandiraj style.

Anushka to sizzle as Telugu Munni

Well if there is one item song which has been in the news for so long it definitely has to be the one in 'Osthi.' It has been more than a couple of months since news started doing rounds as to who will sizzle in the South Indian version of the 'Dabangg' Munni. It was Malaika Arora Khan who appeared in the original with Salman Khan and the song became as popular as the movie.

While the crew of Osthi did their best to rope in fair skinned beauties from Bollywood to the likes of Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan, nothing materialized due to lack of dates. However, now they have roped in B'town's sex-siren Mallika Sherawat.

Talks were on as to whom to rope in for the Telugu remake 'Gabbar Singh' which will see Pawan Kalyan in the lead role. Now there are confirmed reports that Anushka Shetty has confirmed her part to appear for the item number in Telugu!

While we are not too sure as to Anushka's remuneration for this item number, there are reports that Mallika has been roped in to do the item number in Tamil for a whooping price of Rs 1.25 crore! If this report is true then the actress will be the highest paid actress for appearing in an item number in the Tamil film industry till date.

'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' from September 23

'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' (VSV) is director Sargunam's upcoming film. This will be a period film which dates back to the 1960s. The film sees Vimal and Iniya as the lead pair. Since this is a period film the crew first designed a miniature village and after the directorSince 'VSV' is set in the 1960s the director and his crew were on the look out for empty spaces in villages without even electric posts to have the natural effect of the sixties. The set looked so original that there were reports that government-authorized health volunteers who go around for giving polio drops did their duty in this set that was erected by art director Seenu, without realizing where they were.

The film is a romantic comedy and sees Bhagyaraj and Ponvannan in pivotal roles. Director Bhagyaraj will be Vimal's father in the film.

'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' is distributed by UTV Motion Pictures and debutant Gibraan has scored the music for this film. Gibraan is a close friend of Sargunam and Vimal. The art director of this film Seenu, has worked as assistant to director Sabu Cyril.

Produced by Muruganandham, 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' is sure to take its audience on a flashback time machine to the 1960s. Sargunam has taken care of the minutest nuances like roping in mimicry artists and recording radio programs similar to Radio Ceylon which was available during the time.s green signal erected an exact life-size set near Aruppukottai. The film will release on September 23.

Huma Qureshi out of 'Billa 2'?

A script change has brought about various changes in the 'Billa 2' front and there might be a change in the female lead as well! As a result of change in the characterizations of the lead roles, Huma Qureshi might be dropped out of the film, although nothing official has been announced yet.

While the makers of 'Billa 2' witnessed the tremendous response to Ajith's latest offering 'Mankatha' that is successfully running to packed theatres, they wanted Ajiths next film to be even bigger in every aspect, which has brought about these changes in the script.

The first schedule featuring Ajith and the baddies of 'Billa 2' were canned at Pondicherry and after the team finalizes on the heroine, the shooting will proceed further. However, the makers have expressed that an announcement on the cast and crew will be made shortly and that nothing has been decided yet.

The film is a prequel to Ajith's super hit 'Billa' and will showcase how Ajith, an Eelam refugee who comes to Tuticorin becomes a hero among the locals for saving them from a thug and then a don the world fears. The movie is directed by Chakri Toleti and it may be mentioned that while speaking to a daily, Ajith expressed that he is toying with the idea of retaining his 'Mankatha' fame salt-pepper hairdo post 'Billa 2'.
