Malayalam feature film Adaminte Makan Abu, directed by Salim Ahamed, and starring Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab has been selected as India’s official entry to the Oscar Awards in the Foreign Film category. The film has won four national awards this year - Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Feature Film and Best Music Direction (Background Score).
Two other films that were closely competing to make it to the Oscars were the Bollywood flick No One Killed Jessica and Urumi. Urumi is also a Malayalam film directed by Santhosh Sivan and had Prithvi Raj, Prabhu Deva, Genelia and others in the lead roles.
