Tamil Pesum Kathanayagi: Successful Coimbatore auditions

Heroines speaking Tamil have become rare in Kollywood these days! Looking at the top heroines in Tamil Cinema today, we realize that most of them are from the North and come from non-Tamil speaking backgrounds. It would be wonderful to have more actresses who understand Tamil, speak the language and of course, dub in their own voices. To overcome this problem, Raj TV along with H2O and Galatta Media presents a unique concept of Tamil Pesum Kathanayagi... the search for the Tamil speaking female protagonist. This show, crafted by John Vijay and Mala Manyan, will surely reveal actresses who are connected to their roots, young women who love and appreciate the Tamil language.
The Coimbatore auditions were held at Dr. G.R. Damodaran college recently; more than 90 participants took part in the event. The auditions consisted of two levels; the first level judges were Jaswath from CATS ( Coimbatore Arts and Theatrical Society ), Lavanya Sankar (well known Bharatnatyam dancer) and Alexander from Cosmic Dance School. Actor Prashanth and his father Thiagarajan judged the second level contestants. Finally, 14 girls were selected for the final round which will be held in Chennai.
